Puce Moment

Still on movies, I'm getting back into films this week, first time since i graduated 'film school' - that was 3 and a half years ago...

Anyway, I forgot about this until just now. My sister and her boyfriend at the time brought me a Kenneth Anger box set when I was 17, he said 'its all a bit gay but the soundtracks are good'. True on both counts. This is 'Puce Moment' i think it's a small part of what was meant to be a bigger film, but what's great about it is the really amazing psychedelic folk soundtrack by Jonathan Halper. The movie was made in the 40's so when i first heard it i was pretty blown away - turns out this music was actually added in 1966, less exciting but its still great, and there is literally nothing written about this guy that i can find anywhere.

(You can't embed the youtube clip with the film in so this is just the music, you can watch it here)

New Year

Photobucket

We just player our first show of the year and our first since last November. I think we were all a little rusty at first but it turned out OK i think. We have two more shows this week (Cargo on Friday & the Lock Tavern on Sunday), both are free BTW, so by the end of the week we should be going good. The Raaankle is getting better so hopefully by the time we tour in February there will be dancing and everything//

Anyway, like i said we just had our first show of the year and it was fun to play with some people we know. We Have Band were ace, especially their cover of West End Girls by East 17. Still Flyin' were headlining and were a lot of fun, plus they were all real nice. Hopefully we will play with them again one day. Plus this guy was in them:
Photobucket
His name is Ake and he's also in some band called Love is All. It was good to see him.

I've been waiting to post about the first new song i like of 2K9 and 3 just came along at once. You should listen to all of these:
Tin Can Telephone - Recycling Is Cool (remix) This is a remix andy did of his own song. The original is great but this is better....
Sportsday Megaphone - Ever Fallen In Love Awsome Buzzcocks cover
Still Flyin' - Good Thing It's a Ghost Town Around Here See Above
Plus the new Lilly Allen single is great but you've already heard that right?
